Gotukola (Centella Asiatica) Extract
- Raw Material Selection: Fresh or dried Centella Asiatica leaves and aerial parts are sourced from certified organic farms. The plant is known for its high content of triterpenoids and flavonoids.
- Cleaning and Preparation: Collected plant material is washed thoroughly to remove soil, dirt, and contaminants. Damaged or yellowed parts are separated out.
- Drying: The cleaned leaves are shade-dried or air-dried under controlled temperature to preserve heat-sensitive active constituents.
- Grinding / Pulverization: Once dried, the material is crushed into a coarse or fine powder using a mechanical grinder, making it suitable for solvent extraction.
- Extraction Process: The powdered material undergoes hydro-alcoholic extraction using a mixture of water and ethanol.
- Filtration and Concentration: The extract is filtered to remove the solid residues. The liquid filtrate is then concentrated under vacuum to reduce solvent volume and enrich the active compounds.
- Purification: Purification may involve membrane filtration or separation resins to isolate and enrich asiaticoside and madecassoside content.
- Drying and Standardization: The concentrated extract is dried using spray drying or freeze-drying techniques to obtain a stable powder form.
- Packaging and Storage: The finished extract is packed in moisture-proof, air-tight containers (typically HDPE drums or foil pouches). Stored in a cool, dry place away from direct light and moisture.
