Neem Extraction Plant

Neem (Azadirachta indica) is India's most versatile botanical, yielding azadirachtin, nimbin, nimbidin, and cold-pressed neem oil with applications across biopesticides, pharmaceuticals, and personal care. Mechotech's neem extraction plants handle both seed and leaf extraction with high bioactive recovery.

Mechotech designs neem extraction plants for multi-fraction processing — leaf extracts for nimbidin and quercetin, seed kernel pressing for cold-pressed neem oil, and solvent extraction for azadirachtin concentration. Our plants feature SS-constructed extraction vessels, hydraulic cold-press units, vacuum evaporators, and closed-loop solvent recovery, all configurable to your product specification and capacity.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Sorting

Neem seeds or leaves are sorted, cleaned, and moisture-tested. Seeds are decorticatedand the kernel is separated for oil pressing or solvent extraction.

2

Cold Pressing (Seed)

Neem kernels are hydraulically pressed at ambient temperature to yield crude neem oil rich in azadirachtin and fatty acids. Press cake proceeds to solvent extraction.

3

Solvent Extraction

The de-oiled cake or neem leaves are extracted with ethanol or methanol to recover azadirachtin and other limonoids into solution.

4

Filtration & Clarification

The extract is filtered through plate-and-frame filters and clarified with food-grade adsorbents to remove colour bodies and particulates.

5

Evaporation & Concentration

The clarified extract is evaporated under vacuum in a falling-film evaporator to yield a concentrated paste or liquid standardized to target azadirachtin content.

6

Formulation & Packing

The final extract is diluted, emulsified, or dried as required by the end-use application and packed in food-grade or industrial containers.

Key Features

  • Dual Extraction Capability

Single plant processes both neem seeds (cold press + solvent extraction) and neem leaves (aqueous/ethanolic extraction) without cross-contamination.

  • Azadirachtin Standardization

Process is optimized to deliver consistent azadirachtin concentrations from 300 ppm to 10,000 ppm depending on application requirements.

  • Cold-Press Oil Unit

Integrated hydraulic expeller with cooling jacket produces premium cold-pressed neem oil preserving all heat-sensitive bioactive compounds.

  • Solvent Recovery

Closed-loop solvent recovery system achieves >95% ethanol recovery, making the plant economically and environmentally efficient.

  • Scalable Capacity

Available from 500 kg/day to 10,000 kg/day raw material capacity to match your procurement and production requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the plant produce both neem oil and neem extract?
Yes. Mechotech's neem plant is designed for integrated processing — cold-pressed oil from seed kernels and solvent-based azadirachtin extraction from the press cake, all in one plant.
What is the maximum azadirachtin concentration achievable?
Our plants can concentrate azadirachtin up to 10,000 ppm (1%) from quality neem seeds. For biopesticide applications, typical concentrations are 300–3,000 ppm.
Is the plant suitable for organic-certified production?
Yes, with food-grade solvents and GMP-compliant design, the plant supports organic certification (NOP, EU Organic) for biopesticide and personal care applications.
What is the lead time for plant delivery?
Standard capacity plants (500–2,000 kg/day) have a lead time of 60–90 days. Larger custom plants may require 120–150 days depending on engineering complexity.
